Havnatt's Japansk Kirsebærtre Single Has Been Released

It's just been a month since we released Havnatt's album new album Gammal Bygd, and now it's time to enjoy even more new Havnatt material.

The moods of the Norwegian and Japanese spring come together in this new single, as the Havnatt duo celebrate the arrival of spring.

The title of the track translates directly to "Japanese Cherry Tree" - referring to the very well known Japanese sakura, famous for its beautiful, short-lived flowers. Tom Simonsen's characteristic guitar playing and Cecilie Langlie's beautiful voice are accompanied by a 21-string koto on this track - a first for the neofolk duo - creating a rather unique Scandinavia-meets-Japan kind of a sound.

The track kan be streamed and download from all major services right now. For all the details, check out the Japansk Kirsebærtre release page.

We Just Released Havnatt's Gammal Bygd Album

It's such a treat for us to release another full-length Havnatt album.

Gammal Bygd follows in the footsteps of Havnatt's Ragnhildstreet album from 2020. These albums both use the unaltered entirety of longer, multi-part poems by the late Norwegian poet Tormod Skagestad as the foundation for building what are basically concept albums.

On this album, the Havnatt duo continues to evolve their unique style of melancholic, acoustic dark folk music. The arrangements based around Cecilie Langlie's voice and Tom Simonsen's various acoustic guitar instruments still sound familiar to existing Havnatt fans, with just a hint of other instruments making an appearance here and there. The mood is dark, haunting, warm and ambient.

Dævvskævv's Episode Six Album Was Just Released

Staying true to their motto of always reinventing themselves, with Episode Six Dævvskævv take you to a very different musical universe compared to their previous episodic releases.

Leading up to recording the material for this album, the Dævvskævv members were going through an intense phase of 80s movies binge-watching. Having just watched Blade Runner for the sixteenth time - high on a wave of nerdy, sci-fi bliss - they started generating some highly ambient soundscapes in their minds.

Gathering inspiration from the likes of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Vangelis, John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream and fellow Norwegian artists such as Ulver and Kaada, the resulting recorded soundscapes can be described as a combination of both electronic and orchestral movie soundtracks with a hint of metal, a bit of pop, and some electronica and prog thrown in for good measure.

The album artwork was partly inspired by classic Stephen King novel artworks from the 80s.

New Single from Havnatt Just Released

We’re proud to re-release this classic Havnatt track on Havnatt’s home record label for the first time. To celebrate a 10 year (plus) anniversary of sorts for the song’s first release, Havnatt decided to turn this release into a two-track single.

The first track contains a freshly recorded, 2021 version of Dagen Og Natta, creating a re-recording of this classic Havnatt song and updating it with the most recent Havnatt sound.

The second track is a complete remix of the 2010 version of Dagen Og Natta. Tom Simonsen went back to the recordings from 2009, to create a new mix, master and a slightly different interpretation of the original material.
