Medusa Truth Part 2 by Omit

Released 13 APRIL 2018

Buy from CD Baby.

The second part of the Medusa Truth album series, Medusa Truth Part 2 continues where Medusa Truth Part 1 (2014) left off, continuing both the story and the music.

The Medusa Truth albums are a series of albums that attempt to portray a sequence of events in the period of a person’s life. Both parts 1 and 2 deal with a certain series of events, in six parts - or chapters if you will - spread across the two full-length albums.

The music of Omit continues to evolve with the release of this latest album. Medusa Truth Part 2 certainly contains the heavy, melodic, orchestral and dynamic type of doom metal that Omit have become known for.

The title of the album series was inspired by the following passage from The Mutiny of the Elsinore by Jack London: "The profoundest instinct in man is to war against the truth; that is, against the Real. He shuns facts from his infancy. His life is a perpetual evasion. Miracle, chimera and to-morrow keep him alive. He lives on fiction and myth. It is the Lie that makes him free. Animals alone are given the privilege of lifting the veil of Isis; men dare not. The animal, awake, has no fictional escape from the Real because he has no imagination. Man, awake, is compelled to seek a perpetual escape into Hope, Belief, Fable, Art, God, Socialism, Immortality, Alcohol, Love. From Medusa-Truth he makes an appeal to Maya-Lie."

Omit members
Cecilie Langlie - Vocals.
Kjetil Ottersen - Keyboards.
Tom Simonsen - Guitars, keyboards, bass, drums and programming.

Hired musicians
Mira Ursic - Tons of violin overdubs.
SQV Wind Ensemble - Various wind instruments.

All arrangements by Tom Simonsen.

De Glemte Tider (Remastered) by Skumring

Released 11 NOVEMBER 2015

Buy from CD Baby.

"Ten years have passed since the release of Skumring's debut album De Glemte Tider on Aftermath Records. Here at Secret Quarters Records, we still get a lot of questions about this release, and since it has been sold out for years, we figured that it was about time to do a re-release of this doom metal gem. And why not give it a remaster while we’re at it, just to subtly fix some of the audio issues with the original low budget version.

Kjetil Ottersen took on the task of doing the remaster, and I think the result sounds quite a lot better than the release from 2005. I hope you’ll enjoy listening to it."

Etterlatte by Havnatt

Released 15 AUGUST 2013

Buy from CD Baby.

The Etterlatte album builds upon the foundation that Havnatt created with their Havdøgn EP (2012). All lyrics are still the unedited works of Norwegian author Tormod Skagestad. Largely based upon Cecilie Langlie's vocal performances and the acoustic guitar arrangements by Tom Simonsen, the sound is still unique, Havnatt-esque neofolk/dark folk. With Etterlatte the sound is also further expanded through larger musical arrangements that include piano, clarinets, violins and cellos, among others.

The CD version of the album comes with a beautifully crafted 28 page booklet with hand drawn illustrations for each of the tracks. Tormod Skagestad's original lyrics have also been reprinted in the booklet with permission from the Skagestad family.

Havnatt is:
Cecilie Langlie - vocals
Tom Simonsen - guitars, bass, piano, drums

Vagrant God by Vagrant God

Released 05 SEPTEMBER 2012

Buy from CD Baby.

Vagrant God is the result of a Gothic metal album commissioned back in 2007 by a now defunct record label. The stipulations were clear: melodic-yet-heavy songs carrying traditional Gothic textures, propelled by catchy chorus parts and primarily female vocals. Needless to say, the project was unfortunately never brought to fruition due to the label's unexpected disbanding, and the material for the self-titled album was eventually shelved - for five years. The reason for returning to the album now is, above all, to give it a proper closure, but also to make it officially available to all of those who have solicited it ever since its embryonic stages.

Vagrant God is constituted by the very same line-up featured in the doom metal outfit Omit, and exhibits as such a markedly different approach to melancholic music than what is the case with Omit's debut Repose.

The original mixes from 2008 were remastered for this release.

Vagrant God is:
Cecilie Langlie - vocals
Tom Simonsen - vocals
Kjetil Ottersen - guitars, synths, bass, programming

Recorded and mixed by Kjetil Ottersen and Tom Simonsen (2008). Mastered by Kjetil Ottersen (2012).

Album illustrations and design by Robert Høyem.

Omit's Medusa Truth Part 2 album releases on 13 April

From Blogger: 04 MARCH 2018

It's with great pleasure that we can finally announce that Omit's new album is almost upon us. The release date was just set for 13 April 2018, so make sure to update your calendars.

We've also decided to start handling those pre-orders right away, so that everyone's able to head over here to secure a physical copy of the first print of this release.

Make your pre-order of Medusa Truth Part 2.

As we're sure most of you have guessed, Medusa Truth Part 2 is the follow-up to the ambitious Medusa Truth Part 1, released back in late November of 2014.

The music for Medusa Truth Part 2 was written around the same time as Part 1, in 2014 and early 2015, but since the Omit members were also busy with (lots of) other musical projects during this time, the recordings didn’t get started until 2017. The recordings were completed over a few sessions in the last half of 2017 and got set for an early 2018 release window.

We're sure that you'll find that Omit's music continues to evolve with the release of this latest album. Medusa Truth Part 2 certainly contains the heavy, melodic, orchestral and dynamic type of doom metal that Omit have become known for.
